    Le Trio Joubran est un groupe de musique palestinienne, formé en 2004 par trois frères : Samir, Wissam et Adnan Joubran. Leur musique, qu'ils qualifient de « compositions innovantes pour oud et percussions », prend sa source dans la musique classique arabe mais laisse place à une grande part d'improvisations.
    Héritier d'une famille palestinienne d'oudistes sur quatre générations1, le groupe est composé de trois frères, fils du luthier Hatem Joubran, virtuoses du oud et originaires de Nazareth : l'aîné et le leader Samir (né en 1973), Wissam (né en 1983), et Adnan (né en 1985). Le trio s'est réellement formé en 2004 autour de Samir Joubran, qui avait commencé une carrière solo quelques années auparavant. Wissam Joubran est par ailleurs un luthier d'ouds. Palestiniens de nationalité israélienne2, ils vivent à Nazareth et à Ramallah3 ainsi qu'à Paris depuis 20054.
     
    De par leur carrière internationale, les frères Joubran sont considérés comme de véritables ambassadeurs de la Palestine. Le Trio Joubran est particulièrement impliqué dans la défense et la diffusion de la culture palestinienne5,6. Le groupe se produit régulièrement en Europe, ainsi qu’aux États-Unis, au Canada, en Amérique latine et dans le monde arabe.
     
    Sixième album du Trio Joubran, THE LONG MARCH est un tournant pour le groupe, un nouveau cap dans leurs convictions musicales.
     
    Par leur musique envoûtante, ils rendent hommage aux luttes et à l’oppression des peuples autochtones et affirment en particulier que leur musique prend part à la lutte du peuple palestinien pour la reconnaissance et la libération.
     
    Fruit d'une longue gestation, ils se sont notamment associés au légendaire Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), pour le titre "Carry the Earth", dédié à tous ceux qui résistent pour leur terre mais surtout à un événement tragique lorsque quatre jeunes cousins ont été assassinés en jouant au football sur une plage de Gaza.
     
    Mixé par le célèbre producteur parisien Renaud Letang, THE LONG MARCH ouvre une voie nouvelle dans la musique du Trio Joubran

  • Exotic Music for the Oud -- an LP released in the US in 1972

    Un transfert de vinyle obtenu auprès de la Boston Public Library via www.archive.org. Un travail important a été fait pour améliorer le son. Ce LP a été publié par Lyrichord en 1972, apparemment, et réédité sur disque compact en 1999 par Rounder Records, mais est maintenant épuisé.
